Unfortunately the video camera was not working for the Wednesday selectmen’s meeting. You can see last week’s meeting by going to albanytownmeetings.com. Albany has made it to the Wall Street Journal’s front page! Surveyor Paul King along with Wall Street Journal reporter, Ben Leubsdorf recently walked the line between Albany and Madison. The story is on the front page of May 23-24th WSJ’s weekend edition. You can access it by going to http://www.wsj.com/articles/some-devoted-new-englanders-went-for-a-stroll-in-1651-and-havent-stopped-since-1432308932?KEYWORDS=perambulation. Paul King reported to the selectmen that all is well along the line. Before he left, Paul, who lives in Wanalancet, suggested that the selectmen look into the river that runs along the roadway in his area. Curtis will be asked to deal with this. Steve Parker has been tentatively hired as the Animal Control Officer for the town. A contract must be drawn up and signed to complete the hire. Steve Solomon came by to discuss an issue brought before the selectman last week regarding World Fellowship. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to ask the state’s fire marshall to offer an opinion. Chief Solomon also mentioned that there was an electrical fire at Dick Wales’ home recently. All is well there, but the chief said the culprit was the Federal Pacific breaker. It appears this breaker used in homes built before 1980s is faulty. It has been recalled. To be safe have your electrician check your breaker if your house was built before 1980.

It looks like our cars are in for a break. Route 16 is being repaved as anyone using it the latter part of this week can attest. It’ll be great to have a smooth road finally.

It’s dry out there now that the weather has turned warm and there’s been little rain. Remember, a fire can start quickly when the grass and leaves on the ground are dry. Before starting a fire on your property, get a permit. The permit can be obtained from the Forest Fire Warden. Call Kathy at town hall for the phone number.

Congratulations to Gabrielle Croto on winning a prize for her drawing in the Daily Sun contest. Her prize? Two tickets to Kahuna Laguna. Enjoy yourself Gabrielle.
