The selectmen’s meeting on Wednesday was once again taped. Steve Knox brought his technical advisor (Sara Knox) to help out. Toward the end of the meeting there was a discussion regarding how the taping came to fruition two meetings ago. Check it out at albanytownmeetings.com. You will also be able to see the recent Conservation Committee’s meeting on that site as well. The selectmen agreed to the letter hiring Steve Parker as the Animal Control Officer for Albany at a salary of $1500 per year not including expenses. The money will be prorated for the balance of this year. The selectmen signed an updated Multi-Hazard and Emergency Mitigation Plan that include the cost to Albany of $2500. Should there be an emergency situation in the town due to weather for example, this plan is needed to receive funds from FEMA. Kathy Vizard read an email between Steve Solomon and Sean Bergeron regarding the sprinkler system being installed at World Fellowship. Both men have come to agreement and the work there will continue. Auditors have finished their work at town hall and all is well. Jack Rose reported that the Conservation Committee is going forward with planning for farming the Albany fields. They will be putting up signage to name the fields in honor of Ray Burton. All bird houses have been installed in the forest. Jack Rose, speaking as president of the Historical Society, said a mailing would be going out to all Albany residents asking that they become dues paying members of the society. The annual Albany Picnic will be held on July 18 this year. A meeting to organize the picnic will be held shortly. Stay tuned for time and place. Jack is also designing an Albany hat and teeshirt to be sold at the picnic. All monies collected will go toward funding the Historical Society.

In Wednesday’s paper there was an article about a car and moose accident on the Kanc. This is the time of year for animal/car accidents and particularly during the rainy days. Moose are really “dumb” when it comes to interaction with cars. I know. We’ve hit one too. Be careful out there, please.

Seniors Danielle Vizard, Mafey Bernier, Taylor Mathieu and Hunter Lebeuf of Albany attended Kennett High School’s senior prom last week at the Grand Summit and had a great time. Why not? That’s what proms are for.

Congratulations to Jennifer Vizard, class of 2018 on making the dean’s list at Lasell College. Keep up the good work!

Happy birthday wishes to Stan Solomon. He got to celebrate his birthday several times; once the week before the actual date with his son Jay and family. Everyone enjoyed a great meal at Darby Field on May 23. When the birthday cake came out, the entire dining room sang “Happy Birthday” to him. The next week he had a smaller party at home with some friends where once again “Happy Birthday” was sung. On his actual birthday he went shopping.

There is a need for rain in the area as much as we might like to see the sun. Take advantage of the good spring weather and have a great week!
