Voting for town officials begins at 10am on Tuesday and continues until 6pm. The School District meeting will begin at 7pm followed thereafter by Town Meeting. To assure the smooth running of Town Meeting, Town Moderator, Ed Alkalay, came in to discuss the order of events with the selectmen on Wednesday. Town Reports are available at the town office. Don’t forget to pick yours up so you will be ready for the meeting. Last week Cathy Ryan, Rob Nadler and Kathy Vizard attended the Mount Washington Valley Regional Collaboration meeting led by Theresa Kennett that was held at Tech Village. The discussion centered around changing the focus of business for this area from tourism and retail shopping toward supporting other efforts such as manufacturing. They recognized that this would mean changes in infrastructure and education to mention just two. The conversations will continue.

Albany’s Danielle Shannon as many know had a very serious skiing accident in Alaska this past week. She has been a ski coach for the Alyeska Ski Club in Anchorage for the past five years. Her friends and family, among them her father, Eugene Shannon and her brother, Darien, have been at her bedside keeping vigil since the accident occurred. Once there you can make a donation to help support her medical needs and/or leave a message for her and her family. Danielle is improving daily, but she will need further surgeries.
Gibson Center: March 10 after lunch watch “Blended” Fran’s pick for the month. Sign up (356-3231) for home pick up to the Conway Historic Society on Tuesday, March 10 to to learn about maple syrup and/or sign up for the Wednesday trip to Indian Head to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There will be an Irish Buffet and entertainment at Indian Head.

Library: Monday at 5:30 pm join the group and learn about Internet Safety. Story Time for Twos is Tuesday at 10:30am, and for the Wees it’s Wednesday at 10:30am, and for Preschoolers it Thursday at 10:30am. At 3:30pm on Thursday there’s a Robotics Class.

UNH Extension: Monday, March 16 starting at 7pm at the Farmington Town Hall, Wendy Scribner, Natural Resources Field Specialist, will speak about Invasive Insects and the New Hampshire Forests. On Thursday, March 19 from 6 to 8pm those working with preschoolers should attend the food safety program at All Saint’s Preschool in Wolfeboro. Ann Hamilton will lead the program, Food Safety from Farm and Garden to Preschool. Call 447-3834 to sign up or for further information. Positive youth development is what 4-H is all about. Get the family together and learn to build your own boat! The cost is $1600 which includes boat-building materials, a professionally-made sail and a day of sailing instruction in June. The Cold River Radio Show will be airing live on Sunday at 7pm at the Theater in the Wood in Intervale. They’re featuring KBMG, The Dan King Band as well as Cormac McCarthy. Tickets are available on line or at White Birch Books in North Conway.
