At Wednesday’s selectmen’s meeting Peter Carboni was officially named town fire warden. Town Reports will be available at town hall starting Tuesday, March 3. Please pick up your copy so that you will know exactly what will be discussed at the meeting. Town election is March 10 with voting from 10 am to 6 pm. At 7 pm the School District meeting begins and is followed by the Town Meeting. The selectmen have decided to have the town attorney in attendance should there be any questions he might need to answer. The selectmen are seeking three people to be alternates on the Planning Board. Please call 447-6038 if you are interested in one of these positions. It was suggested by Steve Knox that the town should check on the roofs of town owned properties to make sure they are not in danger of collapse. (Might be a good idea for us all.)

Kathy Vizard will be on vacation for the week of March 16 through March 20. The town office will be closed at that time.

The Supervisors of the Checklist will meet today at town hall from 11 to 11:30 am for additions and corrections to the checklist.

Tin Mountain: Join the Tin Mountain family on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm for the Snow Shoe Shuffle on their beautiful property in Albany. There are three events: A one mile backwoods course for adults, a half mile course for teens, and a short easy course for young children on either snow shoes or pulled on a sled. There will be animal tacks to discover! Hot chocolate and cookies around a bonfire will finish the day. Individual registration is $15. Family registration is $25. On Saturday, March 14 starting at 5 pm the First Season Dinner and Auction will be held at Ada Cram Wadsworth Arena at Fryeburg Academy. The cost is $50 per person. There are prizes and bargains including jewelry, certificates for restaurants, services, gift baskets, trips, works of art and unique adventure rides. Gibson Center: Call 356-3231 to reserve your seat for the March 3 trip to see the Snow Sculptures in Jackson. On Wednesday, a representative from SNAP will be at the Center before lunch to offer information about the Nutrition Assistance Program. Call to sign up for help. Thursday there’s Bingo after lunch. On Friday the Nutrition Council will be at the Gibson Center at 9am. Also on Friday, come visit with Mineral Springs residents at lunch.

Library: Tuesday at 10:30 am it’s Story Time for 2 year olds. On Wednesday at 10:30 am it’s Story Time for Babies and on Thursday at 10:30 am it’s Story Time for Threes and Fours. At 3:30pm on Thursday, there’s a Robotics Class.

UNH Extension: Every Thursday from 11am to 1pm at the Wakefield Food pantry there’s a program about making healthy meals more easily with a slow cooker with the slow cooker free to all participants. Call 522-3094 to sign up for the course. Sign up for the Food Safety from farm and garden program for those who deal with preschoolers by calling 447-3834. You will get a certificate for two hours of training. The program is held on March 19 from 6-8 pm in Wolfeboro.

This weekend is the Tamworth dog sled races on Chocorua Lake. About forty teams have entered. Check out the fun.

NH Division of Forests and Land welcomed Stephen Kessler as the new Forest Ranger for Carroll County. He replaces Bob Boyd who retired.

Though the calendar says it’s maple sugaring time, the weather is too cold to begin. Sap is typically staying below freezing overnight. Normal temperature for collecting sap is between 20 to 40 degrees. Hope you have enough sap to last until the weather improves.

The roads are clear, the weather is cold but not snowy, so get out and enjoy the snowiest winter in ages. Have a great week!
