Put this on your calendar! Voting for town officers begins at 10 am and ends at 6 pm on March 10. Town Meeting is scheduled at 7 pm starting with the school meeting. This is the time to get an absentee ballots if you will not be able to vote in person. The ballot must be returned by election day (March 10). The Supervisors of the Checklist will meet on February 28 from 11-11:30 am at town hall for corrections and additions. At the selectmen’s meeting they voted to dedicate the Annual Report to the three successful events put on annually by the Albany Party Group and the Civic Group. The selectmen also voted to inform North Country Council of the town’s continued interest in the project to upgrade the shoulders on Route 16 (in the 10 year plan). The DOT reported that the bridges in Albany, except for one, were in satisfactory or better condition. Curtis Coleman will be advised as to the problem with one of the bridges over the Swift River (there is missing signage).

Waldorf School: The school has been awarded a $2,500 grant from Zeb’s General Store Charitable Fund to help support a new tiered-tuition program to help families unable to afford the cost of school tuition.

Gibson Center: On Wednesday, after lunch, the Visiting Nurses will discuss new state legislation regarding health care. Attend and learn your new rights. Sign up for the trip to Jackson on March 3 to view the snow sculptures. Call 356-3231.

Library: Monday at 6pm is Tech Night. Learn how to better use your equipment. On Tuesday at 10:30 am it’s Story Time for 2 year olds, and on Wednesday it’s Story Time for babies under two. At 2:15 pm join the Afternoon Book Club. On Thursday at 10:30 am it’s Story Time for threes and fours. At 3:30 pm the Robotics Class meets and at 6 pm it’s the Red Ghallagher Song Circle.
UNH Extension: A great new program for youth is being offered by 4-H: Bookmaking. It’s an opportunity for young people to be creative while drawing and writing. Program dates are March 4,11,18, 25. Call Amanda Royce at 447-3834 for further information. Volunteers are needed for the 2015 4-H Maker Challenge on July 11. Jobs include judging, registration, safety inspections, on-site build support, set-up/take down. Contact Claes Thelemarck at 447-3834.

Albany’s Conservation Committee is again seeking unpainted birdhouses made by its young people (with guidance from adults) to place in the Albany Forest. Birds nesting in the forest are different than those outside houses, so utilization of information about building birdhouses is suggested. Entries should be delivered by April 1 with judging by April 15. Prizes will be given.

On February 22 at 7 pm M&D Productions will host the Fifth Annual Oscar Party with local film and theatric critic, Alec Kerr. Dress up or come as your favorite actor or character. Food will be provided by Vito Marcello’s Italian Bistro.

We are inundated with snow this year. It’s beautiful to look at but somewhat intimidating to get out into. But if it’s safe, get out and enjoy this beautiful winter. Have a great week!
