There was no selectmen’s meeting on Wednesday, so no news from there.

Correction: The VFW Commander who retired recently was Wendell Dicey.

World Fellowship: Saturday at 7:30pm storyteller and historian, Jo Radner, weaves troubling stories of Indian neighbors in colonial Fryeburg. On Sunday, science teacher Johanna Vienneau will talk about the Amazing Life of Monarch Butterflies. Monday, August 31 at 7:30pm learn about the history of the humble ukulele. On Wednesday, September 2 at 7:30pm, Dr. Nancy Goldner will talk about “Climbing the Age Ladder Solo”.

Gibson Center: On Thursday, September 5 wear Orange for Go Orange Month. There’ll be orange food on the menu, raffles, and a Memorial Leaf Tree ($5 buys a leaf in memory of a loved one). On Friday, September 4 there will be a Labor Day Cookout Eat-in. On Saturday and Sunday, September 5 & 6 check out the Crafts and Artisan Festival (10am to 5pm). Call 356-3231 to sign up for the Center’s day trip to Two Lights State Park and Lobster Shack Restaurant on Wednesday September 9 or Friday September 11. Twenty dollars covers admission and transportation, but lunch is on your own.

Library: On Monday at 5:30pm check out Virtual Workshop: Resume and Interviewing skills with Artie Lynnworth. Tuesday at 10:30am there’s Family Place Play Group. On Wednesday at 10:30am it’s Story Time for Wee Ones. Thursday at 10:30am it’s Story Time for Preschoolers and at noon it’s “Lunch and Learn with Sarah”.

August 28, 29 and September 3, 4, and 5 at 7:30 pm will be the last times to catch Spamalot produced by M& D Productions at Your Theatre in North Conway.

Kids up to 12 years old can take part on Monday, September 7, in the Memorial Hospital Kids Fun Run at Story Land. This is a fundraiser for Believe in Books Literacy Foundation. You can register on line by going to www.believeinbooks.org.

At 6pm on Sunday, September 7 the Fifth Annual Harvey Baldwin Scholarship Concert (for Mountain Top Music) will be held at Wildcat Tavern in Jackson. Jonathan Sarty and friends will play fun-loving music for every taste.
Sunday, September 13 at 7pm the Mallett Brothers will perform on the Cold River Radio Show at the Theater in the Wood.
