January 25, 2014

Tuesday was a special election to elect a District 1 Executive Councilor that arose due to the death of Ray Burton.  Forty-eight people showed up to vote.  At the end of the day the count was: Democrat Cryans 16 votes, Republican Boothby 11 votes, Republican Kenney 17 votes, Republican Aldrich 3 votes, and a write in vote for Mark Hounsel.  After the final count for the entire District 1, it appears that the two contenders for Ray Burton’s District 1 seat on the Governor’s Council will be Democrat Mike Crayons and Republican Joseph  Kenney.  The vote will be March 11 the same day as Town Meeting and the elections for town officers.  Don’t forget to vote!

Because the selectmen had to be at the polls last Tuesday, they held their regular weekly meeting that day instead of Wednesday.  Most of the meeting concerned the planning board and the selectmen.  To read the totality of the problem that was discussed go to www.albanynh.org.  This Wednesday, January 29, the selectmen’s meeting will start at 3:45 pm.
