According to the town minutes, the selectmen are looking into the possibility of auctioning off tax deeded properties in lieu of selling them through a realtor. The costs will be compared. Leah Valledares has been appointed as an alternate to the Planning Board. Rob reported to the selectmen on the Planning Board public hearing for the Master Plan. He expects the Board will vote on the plan at their next meeting.

The town offices will be closed on Monday, October 13 in honor of Columbus Day.

Gibson Center: Fran’s Flick for October 7 is “Somewhere in Time”. Stay around after lunch for this one. The Center’s Artisan Festival is the weekend of October 11 and 12. Check out some of New England’s finest craftsmen. Your purchases benefit the Center’s Meals on Wheels Program. The Center will be closed on October 13. Put November 11on the calendar for the next AARP Driver Safety Program. Upon successful completion of the course, participants may be eligible for a discount on their auto insurance.

Library: Monday at 6 pm learn about Vintage Valley Postcards from Bob Cotrell and Steve and Olga Morrill. Wednesday, October 7 at 10:30am it’s Fall Story Time for Babies less than 2 years old. At 4:30pm join the White Mountain Writers Group where you can share your writing and learn of local activities for writers. On Thursday at 10:30am It’s Fall Story Time for 3 & 4 year olds. Did you know you could download books from the library onto your computer or other reading device? Check it out.

UNH Extension: From 10am to noon today, you can learn about non-native invasive plant species; how to identify them and control them. The program is held at Front Bay Park, Bay Street, Wolfeboro. There are several Nutrition Connection workshops available for those families receiving SNAP, WIC, Medicaid, fuel assistance or other forms of assistance. Call 447-3834 to sign up for these helpful and interesting sessions.

Next weekend is considered the height of Peeper Season. Settlers’ Green will be having the last of its sidewalk sales , so don’t miss a bargain.

Can you believe it? It’s the 27th year for the return of Pumpkin People in Jackson. Conway is also involved in the displays. You can also check out the Pumpkin People right here at Colemans.

The Fryeburg Fair ends tomorrow but there’s still the Sandwich Fair to enjoy. This family friendly fair runs from October 11 to October 13. Gates open at 8 am.

Stan and I met Steve and Sara Young-Knox and Sara’s father Robert Young at a restaurant Tuesday where they were celebrating Robert Young’s 91st birthday. Robert was in good spirits and enjoying the occasion. Happy Birthday, Robert, from Albany!

Richard Wales attended his Navy reunion in Groton, Conn recently. Richard had served on the USS Strong. About 70 other Navy vets from all over the country were there as well. They went out on a ship and had a great time.
