First, happy Day After Thanksgiving! Hope your holiday turned out just fine and you have lots of good memories. Because the selectmen were to meet the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, that meeting was cancelled. But life does go on in town and around.

Don’t forget the town’s Christmas party is December 12. All are invited.

Gibson Center: The Center closed for the holidays. On Monday, November 30 at 12:30 p.m. Governor Martin O’Malley will visit the Center to speak and answer your questions. Mondays and Thursdays are fun days after lunch. There are games, music, poetry, exercise and crafts. Check it out. Sign up for wreath making with Carol on Tuesday, December 1 by calling 356-3231. On Wednesday, December 2 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the Care for the Caregiver Support Group will meet. On December 6 the North Conway Lions Club will hold a FREE turkey dinner for seniors at the Gibson Center.

Library: Monday at 4 p.m. join Magic the Gathering Club. At 6 p.m. there’s Masterminds and Wingmen: Helping Our Boys Cope with Schoolyard Power, Locker-Room Tests, Girlfriends and the New Rules of Boy World. On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. it’s Story Time for Twos. Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. it’s Story Time for Wee Ones and at 6 p.m. there’s an artist reception with Barbara McEvoy. Thursday at 10:30 a.m. it’s Story Time for Preschoolers. At 2 p.m. bring your questions about the Affordable Care Act and get them answered. At 6 p.m. Dr. Marianne Jackson and Joan Lanoi of Memorial Hospital will speak about Advanced Care Planning. At 7 p.m. attend the New England Christmas Presentation by Pontine Theater at the Salyards Center.

UNH Extension: For those preparing for the winter heating season the firewood prices are averaging $250 to $275 a cord for green wood and $325 to $375 a cord for seasoned wood. Also, are you prepared for a power outage? No power can compromise the safety of food in the refrigerator or freezer. Time, temperature and good cleaning are important to the safety of food.

Albany will be saying goodbye to Jack and Camille Rose in a few months as they have decided to retire to a new high-rise senior housing unit in Lawrenceville, GA. in as Camille put it, the “Deep South”. Their son Aaron and his family live in Cumming, Georgia (where by the way Frank and Muriel Wolfe live) and being close to family felt right.

It’s Christmas time and Angels and Elves is in need of sponsors. You can help by sending a donation to MWV Kiwanis Club of North Conway, P.O. Box 3053, N.Conway, NH 03860, or going directly to Angels and Elves headquarters in Settlers Crossing. You can also call 356-8710. Parents and guardians can put in requests at the headquarters.

Board Santa’s Holiday Express (Conway Scenic RR) this weekend when Santa and his mischievous elves will share their hot chocolate and cookies with everyone.

Enjoy the holiday fun and have a great week!
