Wednesday was Veteran’s Day, so there was no selectmen’s meeting. Additionally, the Selectmen’s Office will be closed November 19 and 20.

Waldorf School: Check out the Children’s Craft Faire on Saturday, November 21. There are crafts for children and local artisans and venders plus student choral performances, puppet shows and plenty of food and the annual Cake Walk.

Gibson Center: The AARP Smart Drivers Class meets Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 356-3231 to sign up for the class. Thanksgiving Dinners will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There are no reservations, so arrive early for your meal. These dinners are sponsored by Shawn and Linda Bergeron in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bergeron and Dana Haley, Sr. On Tuesday, November 17 at 1 p.m. please attend the Annual Gibson Center Meeting. Meet the board, hear the annual report, ask your questions, offer ideas. On Friday, November 20 share in the fun of the Cape Cod Slide Show.

Library: Monday at 10:15 a.m. the Morning Book Group will discuss “All the Light We Can Not See “ by A. Doer. On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. it’s Story Time for Twos. On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. it’s Story Time for Wee Ones with Tara. On Thursday at 10:30 a.m. it’s Story Time for Preschoolers.

Veteran’s Day events at Schouler Park were cancelled due to the weather. There were however several people who did turn up and the local veterans there held an impromptu salute to the flag. A picture was taken of those veterans attending. Representing Albany was Stan Solomon (and his faithful companion, Sir Lancelot).

The Friends of Mountain View Nursing Home is holding a fundraiser on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the home, 93 Water Village Road, Ossipee, featuring traditional Irish music by Laurel Martin on fiddle, Kieran Jordan Mark Roberts on flute, banjo, bouzouki, percussion, and Kieran Jordan doing old style step dancing. Light refreshments will be served.

During November the State Department is offering fast processing of passports. If you need to renew your passport or obtain one now would be the time to do so. Go to the post office to get this done. It should take two to three weeks now while it will take up to four or five weeks if done later.

American Legion Post 46 on Tasker Hill Road will hold a Craft Fair Saturday.

On Friday (3 p.m. to 8 p.m.)and Saturday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) Eastern Slope Ski Club will hold a sale at North Conway Community Center selling Alpine, XC and Snowboard gear.

Starting November 21 take a Journey to the North Pole on a two hour round trip adventure aboard the Polar Express. Trains begin boarding at 4 p.m. so get there earlier to purchase your tickets. All ticket proceeds benefit Believe in Books Foundation.
