Kathy and DeAnn would like to thank the 135 diners who attended the Annual Albany Turkey Dinner last Saturday evening. (Among those in attendance were several candidates for office in this Tuesday’s election: Mike Cryans for Executive Council, John R. White for State Senate, Diana Spaulding for Registrar of Deeds, Ed Butler for District 7 Representative, Susan Ticehurst and Stan Solomon for District 3 Representative and Dorothy Solomon for County Commissioner.) The dinner was an outstanding success! Thanks go out to Mary Leavitt, Cindy Carboni, Jack and Camille Rose, Kristina LeBlanc and Sandy George for baking those delicious pies and desserts and the homemade cranberry sauce. (And let’s not forget the cooks; Kathy and DeAnn who worked so hard to make the dinner itself.) And thanks to Ron and Cathy Ryan for donating the dinner rolls from Leavitts Bakery. Thanks also to all the local companies and individuals who generously donated to the dinner. They include Coleman Concrete, Sunny Brook Cottages, Albany Service Center, Motion Dynamics, Perm-a-Pave, Albany Pet Care, Lee Grant and June Johnson, The Car Guys, Almost There, Profile Subaru, Discount Deli II, Dunkin Donuts, ShurFine, Hannafords and Shaws. And let’s not forget those great servers and helpers; Sally Kratt, Dick and Shirley VanDyne, Lisa Robitaille, Cheryl Gaglini, Jennifer Vizard, Krystina Vizard, Matt Golding, Sandy George, Kristina LeBlanc and her friend Devon. The dinner would not have been the success it was without this support. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Lora Pierce Johnson scholarship fund. This year, after all costs were deducted, $1103.24 was raised. This will be enough to cover two scholarships for deserving Albany seniors going off to college next fall. With the cost of college these days, every bit helps!

Albany folks are getting out and about. The Mount Washington Chamber of Commerce held their annual dinner last Tuesday night and there were several Albany people that Stan and I met there: Camille and Jack Rose, Rob Nadler, Kelly and Lisa Robitaille, and Cort Hanson. If others were there, I guess I missed them in the crowd of about 300 people.

Before you look around, it will be Thanksgiving. Almost time to get the turkey and begin preparing the dinner. Let’s hope the weather holds and everyone can get to wherever they may be going. In the meantime, have a great week.
