The Selectmen’s Office will be closed Wednesday through Friday, therefore the selectmen’s meeting will be on Tuesday instead.

At the June 11 selectmen’s meeting the board voted to allow Jack Rose to hold non-profit organizational meetings at Town Hall as Tri-County CAP may begin charging for their usage.

Rob Nadler looked into the requirement that Albany fund the rescue calls that occur on the Kanc. Albany is responsible for the costs incurred. He suggests that Albany ask the federal government that they increase their payments in lieu of taxes to cover these costs.

Library: Monday, June 23 at 6:30pm meet Michael Wilson author of The Huntsman. On Tuesday at 1pm the Parkinson’s Support Group meets. At 6:30 pm Bill Marvel will have a book signing: The Neighbors’ War, Conway, New Hampshire 1861-1865. Summer reading program registration begins at noon Wednesday. At 4pm Olga Morill will help kick off a summer reading program.

UNH Extension: With the opening of farmers’ market season, here’s a few tips from Ann Hamilton. Most of the products at farm stands and markets are picked and presented the day that day. Here are a few simple rules for keeping your purchase safe. Consider using a cooler to keep your purchases safe. Eggs, meat and poultry need to be refrigerated once you get home. Store meat and poultry in the coldest part of the fridge and eggs on the shelf in their original carton.Use or freeze meats and poultry within a day or two. You might like to attend the Family Garden Program on Wednesday, June 25 from 1-3pm. Call Joy Gagnon at 447-3834 for further information.

Have you been getting annoying robo-calls from credit card companies about reducing your interest rates? Mine had become so bothersome, I copied the phone numbers and turned them into the sheriff’s office. If you’ve experienced the same problem, you can do the same thing. Now when I get these calls, I try to speak to a live person and then tell them I have turned them into the police. Boy do they hang up quickly!

Saturday, June 28 there will be a memorial hike and BBQ in honor of Doris Meyer, an avid hiker in her day. There will be a more formal meal on Sunday. If you wish to attend one or more of these events, please get in touch with Lauren O’Reilly (Doris’ daughter) at 733-6526.

The twelve birdhouses made for the recent contest initiated by the Albany Conservation Commission have been place in the Albany Conservation Land. Take some time and check them out.

Loon Preservation folk were at Iona Lake recently checking on the loon population. So far they have not reported on their findings.

Ann Morin has returned from her trip to England and Denmark where she visited family and friends. Just in time for our glorious summer season.

The Albany Historical Society met on June 17. The next meeting is set for August 12. A decision was made to open the museum starting July 2. Members are asked to come forward and sign up for dates and times to man the museum. It is also time for dues payments. New members are welcomed.

Congratulations to graduating high school seniors Emily Mathieu, Jennifer Vizard, Tanner George and Matthew Wales.

Bernadine Dubois attended her class re-union recently and took the opportunity to visit her sister in St. Johnsbury as well.
