Town Hall’s spring sprucing up took place last week. The maintenance company will return for a few touch up items.

The cemetery committee has been working on their maintenance projects. They will meet next week. Check out the date which will be posted at Town Hall.

The annual town picnic is scheduled for July 19 from 11-3pm at the town’s forest. The picnic is a great way to get together with town-folk and eat great food. Hope to see you there.

The selectmen’s office will be closed on Thursday, June 19 as Kathy will be attending a conference.

At the Bald Hill rectangle (where the road turns) Bernadine Dubois and Carol Munroe got together to beautify the area. They have planted flowers and made the otherwise bare ground beautiful. Check it out.

A military graveside service was conducted in Dover for Gordon Dubois on June 6. His immediate family from the Carolinas as well as other family members and friends were in attendance.

A graveside service for Bob Bell was conducted on June 8 at the Conway Cemetery. Friends and relations attended.

Have you noticed the improvement on Route 16 between Pine Knolls Camp Ground and the Tamworth line? The state has been working on the roadway thank heavens.

Don’t forget the upcoming meeting of the Albany Historical society on June 17 at Banner’s Restaurant. Everyone is invited to attend.

Put the cotton in your ears. Next week is the official start of Bike Week.

Gibson Center: There’s still time to sign up for the June 17 Lupine Festival trip. Call 356-3231. The bus boards at 9am. On Thursday, June 19 there will be blood pressure screenings held at lunchtime. Also on Thursday, from 6-8pm there will be the End of Spring Ballroom Dance.

UNH Extension: The Common Gardening Club, a family gardening program, will be meeting every other Wednesday through the summer. Each session will include garden work, family games and a cooking demonstration. The first program date is June 25 (eating more fruits and vegetables). Library: Monday, June 16 at 6:30 pm meet Walter Bannon, author of The White Pocketbook. On June 17, at 6:30 pm Maria Doyle will be speaking of her book, Period of Purple Crying. June 18, at 10:30 am begins Summer StoryTime, a 10 week program.

The next meeting of Starting Home (a project for housing homeless veterans), will be June 19 at 11 am at the new Mountain View nursing home. The meeting is open to all.

I find it amazing that just a few short weeks ago I was wondering if the snow would ever melt. Now we have lovely green color and flowers sprouting everywhere. Get out and enjoy the beauty of the season. Have a great week!
