Do check the video of Wednesday’s selectmen’s meeting as I missed the first 15minutes. Go to either albanynh.org or albanymeetings.com.

The Town of Albany has sent a letter to the County Commissioners and County Delegation to show Albany’s support for Starting Home to use of the two wings of the old nursing home as transitional housing for homeless veterans. Kathy Vizard advised the selectmen that the landscaping of Town Hall should be completed shortly and that the building will also be power washed. Don’t forget the Albany Town picnic in the Albany Forest is July 18 starting at 11am. As a special added attraction, Peter and Cindy Carboni are bringing their horses to give rides to the children attending the picnic. There will also be a drone aircraft presentation. Jack Rose reported that tee shirts with Albany logos are available for sale to support the Historical Society. They come in sizes medium, large and extra large and the cost is $12.50 each. They will be available at the picnic. Also available will be caps with the Albany logo embroidered on them. The mystery of the flag with the name Paul Douglas Ward that is in the selectmen’s office has been solved. Mr. Ward was a WWII veteran who served in Egypt. His wife was awarded the flag after his death and she donated it to the VFW post that meets in Albany. Now the flag can be viewed as part of their display. Jack reported that the DOT will monitor the roadwork and rumble strips that was recently done for the next year. If there is no major deterioration of the roadwork, then they will continue the rumble strips and road repairs next year. Kelly Robitaille reported that the two sealed bid ads for the mobile home and two acre lot will begin appearing in the Sun on July 10. It will be repeated six times. (It was suggested that the town also place the ad in the Union Leader.) Cathy Ryan noted that Profile Motors has purchased abutting land and King Drive no longer exists. There are no homes on that road. Be advised that there will not be a meeting on July 29 as that is the fifth Wednesday of the month.
