The selectmen met on Wednesday and covered a variety of items. Curtis Coleman came to review with the selectmen what roadwork is yet to be done. Chip sealing is scheduled for Drake Hill Road, Pine Street, Moat View Drive and Wildwood. More extensive roadwork is on the agenda for next year. Passaconaway Road and Bald Hill Road need overlaying, but due to the cost and other considerations (logging going on) this will have to wait until after the March Town Meeting when the town can vote on the projects. Curtis reported that the bridges are in good shape and Ferncroft has been graded. The sealed bids for the two properties were opened. Christian Santosuosso won the bid on the building ($8500) and Tracy Holmes got the land ($9795). The selectmen were informed that the Reach the Beach walk will be coming along Route 16 starting September 18 and going through September 19. The selectmen voted to have Pope Security put cameras in town hall and its outside parking area. These cameras will have constant surveillance of the building.

The Selectmen’s Office and the Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, August 10, to allow the new lighting to be installed. The Selectmen’s Office will be closed on August 26 as Kathy Vizard will be on vacation. (She’s taking her daughter to Keene State College to begin her first year there.)

Here’s wishing Dan Sdankus a speedy recovery from his knee surgery. He is still hospitalized in Laconia.

Though we don’t know the name of the Albany resident who had an accident on Bridgetown Road in Fryeburg near the Thriftway Supermarket, we do know he was not seriously hurt. Apparently he was on a motorcycle but managed to lay his bike down and avoided a collision with a Mercury vehicle. He was taken to Bridgetown Hospital for treatment.

Congratulations to Cameron Schaffner on being named to the dean’s list at Becker College. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations to grandpa Brian David Savary on the birth of grandson, Rye Arbor Jacques, born to Makayla Lynn and Jeffrey Jacques on July 23.

It seems Albany was spared damage by falling trees in the recent storms that went through the area. Let’s hope that continues. Have a great week!
