The selectmen are seeking a representative to serve on the Valley Vision board. If you are interested, please get in touch with Kathy (447-6038).

Rick Hiland has been appointed Albany’s representative to the Eastern Slope Airport Authority.

The Selectmen’s Office will be closed on Friday, June 6 as Kathy Vizard will be attending a conference.

Supervisors of the Checklist will meet at Town Hall Tuesday, June 3 from 7 to 7:30pm. This will be the last date that you will be able to change your party affiliation before the September primary elections.

At the May 21 Selectmen’s Meeting, the board was advised that the damage done to the town owned property on Passaconaway Road will be submitted as a claim to the insurance company once it has been received from the maintenance company. The select-board is still looking into how to handle the library issue as it pertains to Albany residents. The Library Trustees have suggested that Albany send a check for each resident who desires a library card. It was also decided that any complaints that come to the town office must be in writing; letter or e-mail. The selectmen are working on the new web site. Each board, School, Planning, Selectmen and Road Agent will have an e-mail address listed for townspeople to have for their needs addressed. The Cemetery committee, Kelly Robitaille, Kim Guptill and Cathy Ryan along with the maintenance person, Randy Leach of LCR, visited Albany cemeteries to assess what work still needs to be done. The Wonalancet cemetery was in very good condition, while the others were all in need of work. Once more fencing quotes come in, a meeting will be held to see how the committee can complete whatever work still needs to be done. Kim was praised for her work to bring the cemeteries up to snuff. Jack Rose announced that North Country Council and Lakes Region Planning Commission will meet in Albany on June 12 at noon to discuss the two year study to expedite an upgrade of Route 16 in Albany. (Put that on your calendar.) Jack reported that the new gas tax may help get improvements to our North Country roads.

Happy birthday to Stan Solomon, my wonderful husband, on his birthday today! No, I won’t say how old he is.

Congratulations to Scott Gormley and Josephine Howland on the birth of their granddaughter, Nora Marie Kiesman born May 18 to Sara Gormley and Corey Kiesman.

Keep the faith. Spring will arrive and stay (at least until summer arrives) and we’ll be able to enjoy the great outdoors. In the meanwhile, cover up when you do go outdoors especially when going into the wilderness. Black flies and ticks are having a field day. Have a great week.
