ALBANY SCHOOL BOARD

MINUTES

JANUARY 13, 2015

 

PRESENT:  Joseph Ferris, Lisa Lynde, Sara Young-Knox and Carl Nelson.  The meeting was held at the Albany Town Hall.

Chair Ferris called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

(2)           Approval of Minutes (11-18-14) – Lisa Lynde moved to approve the minutes of November 18, 2014.  The motion was seconded by Joe Ferris and passed 2-0-0.

Public – none

Board Member – none

Signing of Manifest – The manifest was signed as presented.

Business Affairs

Attendance at Meetings – Joe (9); Sara (2); Lisa (1)

Review 1st Draft of 2015-16 Proposed Budget – The proposed budget was reviewed. Joe Ferris moved to move the proposed 2015-16 budget in the amount of $1,317,948 forward to the budget hearing.  The motion was seconded by Sara Young-Knox and passed 3-0-0.

Review 1st Draft of Proposed Warrant Articles – The proposed articles were reviewed. Joe Ferris moved to move the warrant articles forward to the budget hearing.  The motion was seconded by Sara Young-Knox and passed

ARTICLE 1.  To elect a Moderator for the ensuing year.

ARTICLE 2.  To elect a Clerk for the ensuing year.

ARTICLE 3.  To elect a member of the School Board for the ensuing three years.

ARTICLE 4.  To elect a Treasurer for the ensuing year.

ARTICLE 5.  To see if the School District will vote to raise and appropriate the  sum of one million, three hundred seventeen thousand, nine hundred and forty-eight dollars ($1,317,948) for the support of schools, for the payment of salaries for school district officials and agents, and for the payment of the statutory obligations of the District.  This article does not include appropriations voted in  other warrant articles.  (Majority vote required)  (Recommended by the School. (Board 3-0-0)

ARTICLE 6.  To see if the School District will vote to raise and appropriate the   sum of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to be placed in the Capital Reserve  Fund (Special Education), previously established for this purpose.  (Majority vote required)  (Recommended by the School Board 3-0-0)

ARTICLE 7.  To transact any other business that may legally come before this  meeting.

Superintendent’s Report

The SAU Executive Board will meet on January 21st at 4:00 p.m.

The SAU #9/SAU #13 Joint Boards will meet on January 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

Any Other Business

Set Date for Next Meeting – February 10, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in the Albany Town Hall – board meeting and budget hearing.

Public Comments – Steve Knox asked a question in regard to special education; he also asked a question about the closing of an elementary school. Carl answered his questions.

(10)        Joe Ferris moved to adjourn the meeting.  The motion was seconded by Sara Young-Knox and passed 3-0-0 at 5:48 p.m.
