The Albany select board was complete at Wednesday’s meeting with Rob Nadler sitting in the third seat. Two sealed bids were opened for the trailer at Piper Meadows. The minimum bid was $4300. One bid was for $3000 and the other was for $4300. The second was chosen and the trailer went to Steve Parker.

The selectmen are preparing to hold a forum on February 1 at Town Hall at 7 p.m. Albany’s three state representatives, Mark McConkey, Ed Butler and Susan Ticehurst as well as state senator Jeb Bradley have been invited to speak on several legislative bills that affect the town. Kelly Robitaille representing the select board and Rick Hiland representing the Planning Board will be doing the questioning at the forum. Albany residents attending the forum will also have an opportunity to ask questions. Put the date on your calendar and participate in this forum.

Check out the most recent School Board and Planning Board meetings on albanytownmeetings.com. You can check on the rise in school taxes ($3.14 per one thousand dollars) at the school meeting and see that Theresa Gallagher has handed in her resignation as secretary of the Planning Board. Leah Valadaris has taken on the job temporarily while they seek a replacement.

Following next week’s selectmen’s meeting (January 20) there will be a Capital Improvement Plan meeting. Their discussion will cover cemetery issues, roads, and town buildings. Albany residents are welcome to attend.

The Town Clerk and Selectmen’s Office will be closed on January 18 in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

World Fellowship Center and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Eastern Slopes in Tamworth will have an observance of Martin Luther King with stories and song on Monday. Andy Davis of the Fellowship will be telling stories at the event. For further information call Andy at 447-2280.

Waldorf School: There is still time to help out the school financially. You can call the office and speak with Karen Albert with your pledge or go to their Go Fund Me page. The school is looking for new members of the Board of Trustees. You need not have a child in the school, but rather have an understanding of the benefits of a Waldorf Education. Business minded individuals with a passion to help lead and direct the school’s financial wellbeing for years to come are encouraged to apply. Stop by the office and see Karen Albert to pick up a board application.

Gibson Center: The Center is in need of volunteers for the Thrift Shop. If you can help call 356-3231 to volunteer. Join FunDay after lunch on Monday. On Tuesday after lunch Dwight Smith will give a talk about the History of Trains in Conway. On Wednesday Oktoberfest will be celebrated. Sally Swenson and musical friends will sing traditional German music. Wear your dimdi or lederhosen. There will be a friendly game of Bingo after lunch. Bring a prize to share. Don’t forget FunDay after lunch on Thursday. Fridays from 5-7 p.m. Pat Davis will play ballroom music for dancing. Join in.

NH Fish and Game and UNH are collaring moose to monitor and help evaluate the health of the moose for the next two years. This will also let them know how long a moose lives.

On January 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. there will be a free seminar for New Hampshire and Maine residents regarding personal injury, workers’ compensation and Social Security at the Town and Country Motor Inn in Shelburne, NH. This will help people learn about their rights to receive benefits under worker’s compensation system and social security.
