The Supervisors of the Checklist will be on hand at town hall on February 27 from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
It is almost Town Meeting time. The slate for this year is as follows: Running for selectman for a one year term are Rob Nadler and Richard Hiland. Running for a three year term is Kelly Robitaille. Running for a two year term as Moderator is Edward Alkalay. Running for Cemetery Trustee is Kim Guptill. Running for Supervisor of the Checklist is Lisa Robitaille. There are two open seats for Trustee of the Trust Funds: a one year seat and a three year seat. Seats for Clerk and Treasurer on the School Board are open. The election is March 8 with voting starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m.
Town Meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with the School Board meeting.
At the selectmenâs meeting on Wednesday Sheriff Dominic Richardi was in attendance to talk with the board about what his deputies have been doing in town. He brought a written report but also spoke to some specific issues. One in particular was the officerâs patrol of Tabor Circle. It appears that several cars in that area have been broken into. Given this, the residents of the area are very glad to have the patrol. According to the sheriff, Albany too has its problem with addiction. People have been arrested. The officers are working with the addicts find them help. Dealers though are dealt with in the court system. Kelly remarked that what has been seen in the area are the needles that find their way onto the road. Sheriff Richardi asked that these findings be reported to the Sheriffâs office. He also suggested that the town take a look at their ordinances with the idea of updating them as Conway has done.
Rob Nadler reported on a meeting of the Economic Council. The library now has a 3D printer. There will be a meeting on March 22 at 6:30 p.m. to demonstrate the uses for this machine. And as an early reminder, the spring Science Fair (May 12) is looking for judges. This event has become very popular with many area school children participating.
Steve Knox suggested that the selectmen create a committee to work with the Historical Society on Albanyâs upcoming 250th anniversary. It was suggested that the committeeâs need for funding be brought up at Town Meeting. The selectmen voted to make Steve the chair of this committee and Rick Hiland offered to be a member of this committee.
Gibson Center: Monday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Alice Clapp will offer dance music for Sadie Hawkins Day. On Tuesday at 10 a.m. thereâs a Strength, Balance, Stretch class that is well recommended. On Wednesday at 10 a.m. come to play Mah Jong. Thursday join a friendly game of Bingo after lunch. Bring a prize. On Friday the painterâs group meets after lunch.
Library: Magic the Gathering Club meets at 4 p.m. on Monday. On Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. itâs Story Time for Twos and at 5:30 p.m. the Sweater Mitten Workshop meets. At 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday itâs Story Time for Wee Ones. At 4:30 p.m. thereâs Robotics followed at 6:30 p.m. by Irish Songs and Stories with Pat OâBrien. Thursday at 10:30 a.m. itâs Story Time for Threes and Fours. At 6 p.m. learn about Polarity Therapy: A New Model for Health.

Much as we might like to forget it, April 15 (tax day) is coming. This year the IRS is offering FREE online tax prep and e-filing to those making $62,000 or less. For those taxpayers whose income exceeds the $62,000 you can get basic online services called Free File Fillable Forms and also e-file for an extension. Free File also helps with the new health care requirements. By using Free File most taxpayers just check a box to report health care coverage for the entire year. Lance Zack has moved his office from Chocorua to East Conway. Now called White Mountain Restorative Justice it is located at 190 Odell Hill Road. The program he runs offers Juvenile Diversion, Alternative Sentencing, Family/Household Mediation, Victim/Offender Mediation, and Business/Workplace Mediation.
