The selectmen will not be meeting for the rest of the month of December. The town office will be closing Wednesday at noon and will be closed Thursday and Friday. Taxes were due on Monday, December 22. Any taxes not paid by then will be incurring a fee.

Library: December 30 at 10:30am it’s Story Time with Shuanal for children 2-3 years old. At 10:30am on the 31st it’s Story Time for tots under 2. After that the library will close at 1pm in observance of New Year’s Eve and will be closed on January 1.

UNH Extension: Lean how to save money at the grocery store at a 6 week program starting January 6. Class is held at the Freight House in Center Ossipee from 10am to 11:45am. Call 447-3834 to register. Interested in bee keeping? Starting January 29 and running through March 5 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm there will be a course for beekeepers hosted by the Tuftonboro Library. Preregister before January 21 with Betty Lou Canty at 447-3834.

Good news for those needing assistance with signing up for the Health Insurance Marketplace. On Wednesday, January 7 counselors will be available at the Memorial Hospital to help you. Make an appointment by calling 356-5461,extension 2220.

The deck of the bridge over the Swift River on Bear Notch Road is under repair. The project will take four months to complete. One way alternate traffic is in effect. The available travel width is 11.5 feet.

Stan and Dorothy have returned from their yearly trip to California to visit their son, Mitch and then took a fifteen day cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. The weather was a bit warmer than here at home. It was a lovely trip, but after three weeks it was great coming home. Getting home from Logan airport took as much time as flying across country due to a road accident and holiday traffic.
